The village of Coniston – Swallows and Amazons country – nestles under the towering cracks of Coniston Old Man, a majestic mountain which overlooks the glistening scenery of Conistonwater. A traditional Lakeland village close to one of Cumbria’s most spectacular lakes, Coniston Old Man rises 2.635ft, ideal for both high and low fell walkers. Conistonwater is a leisurely stroll away and will always be remembered as the birthplace of Donald Campbell who made his water speed record attempts which ultimately claimed his life.
